Prof. Wiesław Winiecki was born in 1950 in Poland. He received his M.Sc. degree (electronic instrumentation) in 1975 from Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), the Ph.D. degree in 1986 from Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), the higher doctor’s degree in 2003 from Warsaw University of Technology, and the Professor’s title in 2011 from the President of the Republic of Poland. His research interests are concentrated on software and hardware aspects of measurement. The record of his achievements in this domain comprises more than 250 research publications, 3 monographs, 1 academic textbook, 7 patents, as well as over 100 reports on scientific research and implementation. Member of the Metrology and Instrumentation Committee, Polish Academy of Sciences (’07-16); Member of the Senate Committee on Research, Warsaw University of Technology – WUT (’05-‘12); Member of the WUT Science Council (’06-12); Member of the Rector’s Committee on Research and Scientific Instrumentation, WUT (’12-20); Vice-President of the Polish Society for Measurement, Automatic Control and Robotics POLSPAR (’11-), Chairman of Measurement Committee of POLSPAR (’11-). Member of the IEEE IDAACS International Advisory Board (’09-); Member of IEEE.
In the years 1994-2001 and 2004-2005, he held the position of Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Radioelectronics at Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), then, in 2005-2008 he was Vice-Dean for Research in the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technologies, WUT. In 2008, he has been re-appointed as Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Radioelectronics. From 2016 he held the position of Director at the Institute of Radioelectronics and Multimedia Technology at WUT.
Passed away on 5th of September 2019.
